George Grundy
Drum lessons in Walthamstow, London, E17
Connected Profiles:
My specialism is in the Black American Music tradition e.g. Jazz, Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk. I have played with notable musicians such as Alan Barnes, Mike Williams, Neil Yates, Sara Ocshlag, Arnie Somogi, Andor Jensen and Christian Weaver (cuban music specialist). Along with many other Jazz musicians from Manchester, Birmingham and London. I played in the Salford University Big Band and the Managers Big Band based in Bolton.
I have spent 6 years being involved in the Jazz scene in Manchester and the north west, playing with the older generation of players, setting up and running my own weekly jazz night to help contribute the scene, running and house banding all of the city’s jam sessions, writing and playing original music with some of Manchester’s best musicians and gigging at all of the major venues in Manchester and the North (e.g. Matt and Phreds, Band On The Wall, Jazz at the Wonder Inn (now NQ Jazz), Domino Club, Jazz at The Lescar), as well as notable institutions like the Manchester and Whitworth art Galleries.
Now in London I am playing with young musicians from Guildhall and Trinity Laban Conservatoires, steadily building a reputation on a new scene.
I teach at a fixed location (studio)
I have a wide range of equipment to suit all styles, and access to lots of study resources that I have acquired over the years of my own practice.
I have a DBS Disclosure Certificate (What's this?)
