Dominic Goundar
Drum lessons in Bethnal Green, London E1 4BU, UK
Connected Profiles:
I live in Stepney Green with my wife and cat and teach from home where I have an adapted music room with acoustic and electronic drums for learning, playing and recording.
My approach to teaching is based on a set of simple principles instilled in me through my own development which have been honed and refined in over 30 years of playing.
Above all else playing any musical instrument should be a joyous and rewarding experience for all and learning should, by definition, be full of growth.
I teach at a fixed location (studio)
My home studio is equipped with acoustic drums which can all be recorded to augment lessons, provide take home keepsakes and demonstrate progress beyond the confines of the studio.
I have a DBS Disclosure Certificate (What's this?)
DBS date: 01/10/2021
Experience and Qualifications
I have taught all ages in schools (Hertfordshire County Music Service), privately, for artistic organisations (Nimble Arts) and for business groups (DrumPulse Events Ltd). As a player I am employed in the theatre (West End and beyond), bands, for artists and producers as well as work for various performing arts companies.
Lessons for beginners and younger players are fun and challenging and a way to start to explore both music making and listening.
Those looking to improve their existing ability are guided through ways to expand not only repertoire but technique and musical approach.
Players who possess a larger skill set are in a position to thoroughly explore what it means to have a distinctive voice on the drums and to refine their approach to make them confident, creative, expressive and ultimately employable.
The goal is always to facilitate the desire of the student by providing a framework for them to learn effectively whilst also exploring new areas of interest to expand their musical potential.
I am always happy to discuss any aspect of teaching with new students/parents and would welcome any questions.

Testimonials and References
"I had drum lessons with Dom for several years and I loved every single one of them. They were fun, challenging and fulfilling. He taught me to read and really understand rhythmic notation, which has proven to be an invaluable skill and made me a more versatile drummer. I have also progressed to teaching and still use some of the material he taught me with when I first started. Dom is not only a fantastic drummer but also a fantastic teacher. It was truly inspiring to have been taught by him" - Daniel, Hemel Hempstead
"When our son asked if he could have drum lessons we were so lucky to secure Dom as his drum tutor. Dom is professional, trustworthy, and knowledgeable of his art. His passion for drumming is infectious to students and provides a sense of fun and motivation through learning music. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for private drumming lessons." Rosie, St. Albans
